A step by step guide to help you select the correct slatwall - Exclusively from the low price leader - StoreFix.com

Step 1:   Choose the slatwall orientation - Horizontal or Vertical:
4' T x 8' W Horizontal - slots run the 8' distance
 
8' T x 4' W Vertical - slots run the 4' distance

Horizontal orientation is recommended for applying slatwall to a wall.  It is the least expensive, easiest installed on a wall and will provide the best looking job when you are done.

 
Vertical slatwall is used around columns and when you want to place a standard between panels.  It also has an application for building fixtures.  Vertical slatwall is upcharged from horizontal.

When using both horizontal slatwall and vertical slatwall, the grooves will not line up exactly as they are produced on two different machines.  It is not recommended to use horizontal slatwall and vertical slatwall in the same run.

Step 2:  Choose the groove spacing on your slatwall
The standard groove spacing is 3" O.C. (3" from the center of one groove to the center of the next groove).
4", 6", 8", 12" and special slotting is available at additional cost.  In addition to adding significant cost to your slatwall, special slotting on your slatwall will dramatically increase your lead time.  Most applications work well with the standard - 3" O.C.

Step 3:  Choose the strength of your panel
Slatwall without metal inserts is considered "light duty" and will support about 25  lbs from ONE point.  If your application calls for heavier weight capacity or if you are planning on using hangrails with slatwall, then you must choose metal inserts.  The following inserts are available for decorative use only - they do not add strength!
Deco strips for color only. - No strength !
T plastic inserts - completely cover the entire groove.- No strength!
Laminate Inserts - No strength !
Metal inserts MUST be installed by factory & cannot be added later.

Step 4:  Choose the edge finish of your slatwall
Horizontal slatwall comes standard with 1/2 grooves - top & bottom.  This enables your slatwall to be stacked.  There is no seam between stacked panels as the seam is in the middle of a groove.   Vertical slatwall comes standard with a FLUSH TOP & BOTTOM.    Generally, this is best because you are not going to stack 2 vertical panels on top of one another.
Horizontal slatwall may be ordered with FLUSH TOP & BOTTOM AT ADDITIONAL COST - will not stack.   Vertical slatwall may NOT be ordered with 1/2 grooves.

Step 4:  Choose the visual presentation (color) of your slatwall
Slatwall may be ordered in a variety of finishes.  Choose the one that fits your store, your budget, & decorative requirements.
Paint Grade - Raw MDF board (a tan - brown color), may be painted to match any color.  Least expensive slatwall panel. LPL - low pressure laminate - melamine -  comes in a variety of colors.  Click here to see colors available.  This is the least expensive slatwall that is prefinished.  Most large stores use LPL for slatwall and fixtures.
HPL - High Pressure Laminate - StoreFix.com has the capability to produce slatwall with any brand of laminate specified by the customer.  For a selection of laminates, follow the links here.

Real Wood Veneers - Storefix.com sells slatwall with the following veneers:
Red Oak and Maple. Please note: When you use a veneer, the veneer is raw.  If you want to stain, you must sand, seal and lacquer.
Clear Mirrorplex - is a mirrored acrylic that is laminated to the mdf board.  It is normal for there to be some distortion in mirrored slatwall.
